I have to make a statement here, and say that I personally think something seriously fishy is going on in…
When it looks like restrictions are going to be let up, people are being brought forward by the media outlets to cry “the sky is falling” and they wind everybody up with complaints against lifting any restrictions.
Then, when it looks like the restrictions are going to be kept in place “for just a little while longer” a different group of people are being brought forward to cry “the sky is falling” and that the restrictions are too much and why can’t they go away!!
This rollercoaster of crap antagonizes both sides, then shoots everyone’s stress levels thru the roof! What the F#$# is going on! I mean, I totally understand that there are many different viewpoints on this whole situation.
It just seems odd to me that instead of stating the pros and cons up front of both points of view and letting each person make a decision based on the current facts (not conjecture), they report one side of the story over and over until it has started to gain a “majority” shift in opinion. Then they immediately bring the opposing viewpoint to the fore front, reporting on that side of the story…Then it starts all over again!
I read and follow a crap ton of different news outlets, with the intent of trying to filter out the garbage and misinformation… But every single one of them is pulling the same shit right now!
My profession puts me in a position of communication with many doctors and nurses. This is due to that fact that I play a primary role in maintaining their communication lines, both at the different hospitals and many clinics. I try to keep a positive attitude when they call for support, after all they are under immense pressure, and this has given me a lot of insight on the feelings of many of the nurses and doctors.
There is a great divide even among them. Many want the restrictions to be eased up… Just as many want the restrictions left in place for another few months. It all depends on the “area” of the hospital the person is working in as to which way they are leaning…
Realistically the Vaccine Passport has done nothing for them at the hospital levels. They are still seeing covid patients coming in, the volume depends on the day, and the most recent holiday. Most of the deaths “related” to covid are directly caused by underlying conditions making them more “at risk” to the extreme side of it. A large majority come in, get diagnosed, and are then sent home to isolate and take care of themselves “as if they had the flu”. Some actually do have a “bad” reaction to the infection but the number of these is no larger or smaller in occurrence than during a bad flu season.
If this is truly the case, then it makes me wonder if the media is really being given all the facts?? They can’t report the truth if they are not being told the truth. Or am I wrong, and as many people I know are saying, they are being bought off to report a “specific” truth from a specific point of view?? Regardless the Media is making it look like nobody has a clue how to move forward. And the Government body is too busy arguing with itself to double down and just make a united call to move forward. With all the politics going on, it may takes years to get anywhere.
I honestly believe there is a way out of this pandemic, and it starts with everyone calming down.
“My” opinion is that the restrictions should be lifted, and that vaccine passports be rescinded and taken off the table, at least as far as travel/socializing “within” Canada is concerned.
Masking was a good idea, right up until all the “exceptions” came into play. Get rid of that mandate, let everyone decide if it is the solution that works best for them. The only place where a mask should be non-negotiable is at the hospitals and clinics. This is where people are more likely to come into contact with Covid. Think about it, people get sick, they go see their doctor… doctors are at the hospitals and clinics.
I’m not advocating a “Kenney” and just throwing all the work that has been done to date away and just opening the flood gates and every man for themselves… That would be asinine, but after over two tears, I think it’s time to get into the mindset that “covid”, regardless of its variants, is not going away. We all need to step up and take a bit of responsibility in getting back to a new normal. Look out for yourselves, your family, and your neighbors. If you’re sick, bloody well stay home. If your “at risk” get your shots, and even your boosters if it’s recommended by your Doctor “NOT” your local news reporter.
There is no reason why the gov’t and the news reporters should have to be telling you how to look after yourself to stay healthy. That’s you and your families’ jobs. The fact that it has come to this is due to a small to medium % of the people being just plain selfish, thinking that their freedoms include the right to put other people at risk of serious sickness or death.
Your rights are only being “infringed on” because you have proven that you’re are incapable of common sense and following a few simple guidelines. Because of your selfishness YOU forced the “powers that be” into a kneejerk reaction that did no one any good mentally or physically…
But I digress, my whole reason for this post is that I believe that there is a serious disconnect between the people, the government. With the whole situation being compounded by a small group of extremists causing the powers that be, to turn a deaf ear to those of us with honest questions, and legitimate concerns regarding this whole mess that is called covid…
In the end I say pick a path and stick to it. Stop confusing and aggravating all of us who just want to move forward and get on with living life.
